    Birdhouse Competition

P3A took part in a birdhouse competition sponsored by Teknion, Interface, and Concept3 Business Interiors. Our birdhouse was designed for the Black-Capped Chickadee, Regina’s official bird. The house is a thoughtful response to the bird’s behavior, needs, and environment. It supports natural nesting habits, with a small, protective entrance, a cupped base, and textured interior walls to help fledglings climb out. Vertical fins on the exterior mimic the texture of tree bark, helping the birdhouse blend into its surroundings, deter predators, and dissipate heat to keep the interior cool. Made from biodegradable PHA and 3D printed to reduce waste, the birdhouse is durable and temporary. It is built to last through several nesting seasons, then break down naturally, leaving no lasting impact on the environment.
